The 37th film in the Godzilla franchise, Godzilla minus one, just came out on Netflix. This movie earned more than $115.8 million worldwide in theaters, and Godzilla minus one also won an Oscar for best visual effects, making this movie a huge success for the franchise. So is this the end? And today we are here to talk about it through this blog.
The game is not over for Godzilla.
Spoiler Disclaimer: "This blog contains spoilers from the movie. If you haven't watched the movie yet and wish to avoid spoilers, proceed with caution."
So is this the end for Godzilla? The answer is obviously no. Godzilla Minus one was a huge success and made lots of money, and it was also acknowledged by people all around the world. This movie also won an Oscar, which makes it more popular and more acknowledged, and the Monsterverse did pretty well with Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, so it is very possible that more Godzilla movies are on their way to entertain us.
Godzilla minus one sequel
We are going to see another Monsterverse film by 2027.
What about Godzilla minus one? Will we get a sequel or not? The answer is that the possibilities are very high that we will get a sequel to Godzilla Minus One since we know Godzilla is not dead yet from the Minus One post-credit scene, and we also know that Noriko is somehow infected with Godzilla cells (G cells in short).
Godzilla minus one theory
Theory Disclaimer: "The theories presented in this blog are speculative and for entertainment purposes only. We do not guarantee that these theories will occur in upcoming movies. Remember, theories are theories, and the final outcome may differ."
The post-credit scene of Godzilla minus one shows Godzilla regenerating, and we also see Noriko being infected with Godzilla cells, which could be the reason for her survival.
So now the question is: is she somehow connected to Godzilla now? This raises one more question: is Godzilla even from this planet? In this movie, we clearly did not see the proper origin of Godzilla in Godzilla minus one, so could it be that the origin of this Godzilla is actually different from other Godzilla movies? He came from another planet several thousand years ago and got mutated by the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
I guess we’ll only get to know if this theory is true or not in the next movie.
Now what could be the story of Godzilla minus one, and it’ll take place in which timeline? I guess the story could start several years after Minus One, and Noriko suddenly starts dreaming of Godzilla in parallel to Koichi Shikishima.
“Suddenly, Godzilla makes his comeback, bigger and stronger than before. The reason Noriko had those dreams is that she was actually connected to Godzilla. Now, they have to stop Godzilla again; with Noriko’s help, this could be the plot of the next movie.”
